he UFA regretfully announces the passing of Louis Sforza, Sr, which occurred on Wednesday,
November 29, 2023. Louis was appointed to the FDNY on May 21, 1960. In 1969, he became
the UFA Staten Island Trustee, and went on to serve the UFA Executive Board for the next 21
years. He became Chairman of the UFA Board of Trustees in 1973 and then, in 1976, he was
appointed UFA Vice President. In 1989, Lou became UFA President. In 1991, after retiring
from the FDNY after 31 years on the job, Lou continued his service with the UFA as pension
consultant for another 20 years, assisting firefighters with the retirement process. Lou has a
long list of achievements in his dedicated life of service to the Uniformed Firefighters of New
York City, for which we are extremely thankful. His devotion and work for the benefit of
firefighters, both while on the UFA Executive Board and in his retirement, is unparalleled, and
we are honored to have worked with him all these years. We extend our deepest condolences
to his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

REST IN PEACE BROTHER....PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.... Lou was a longtime UFA Board Member back in the early '70s when I was an alternate UFA Delegate.....he was also a Pension Guru & continued to provide knowledgeable info at Pension Seminars after he Retired.
