REST IN PEACE BROTHER......PRAYERS FOR THE COMFORT OF THE FAMILIES.
Mark Russell Senno, 60, of Carmel, NY, passed away on October 5, 2023. He was predeceased by his father Angelo, mother Helen, and brother Stephen. He left behind a daughter Elisa Grace, son Mark Christian, brother Michael, sisters Linda McMonagle (Kevin), Lisa Cullen (William), and Sara Kaplan (Michael). He was the proud uncle to seven nephews and four nieces, and great uncle to two great-nieces and five great- nephews.
Mark was born on April 15, 1963. A graduate of Carmel High School, he earned a business degree from Marist College in 1985. Shortly after, he joined Moore Business Forms and enjoyed a successful stint as a sales representative. In his spare time, he loved to fish and vacation with friends and family in Florida.
On August 16, 1998, Mark received his appointment to the NYC Fire Department where he proudly served as a firefighter and driver at Ladder 50 in the Bronx. As one of New York's Bravest, he had found his passion. Along with his first responder brothers and sisters, he routinely put himself at risk for the benefit of others, including the time he spent at Ground Zero in 2001. Mark retired after more than 20 years of duty in December of 2018, and remained close to many of his fellow firefighters.
Mark will be remembered by many as a son, a brother, a father, a brother-in-law, a nephew, an uncle, a cousin and a friend. His favorite closing to any conversation was, "Keep Smiling" and we know he is doing just that as he looks down upon us all. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" 2 Timothy 4:7.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
Following the Mass, Mark will be escorted to his final resting place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in memory of Mark to the Carmel Rotary send an email to: rotary7210@gmail.com, or send check to Rotary Club of Carmel NY, P.O. Box 421, Carmel, NY 10512.
