On Saturday, May 20th just after 3:30p, the Roslyn Rescue and Roslyn Highlands Fire Companies were dispatched to a house fire at the intersection of Rockhill Rd and Thorne Pl. Rescue 1st Assistant Chief Collura [5601] was quickly on the scene with a smoke condition from a the rear of a house on Rockhill. After a quick 360, fire was found around the electric meter after the mast had been pulled down by a tree and a Signal 10 was transmitted. Highlands Quint 595 was first due and stretched the initial line to begin extinguishing the fire. At least 2 lines were stretched and placed into the operation which was contained to the area of origin. With the assistance of crews from Westbury, Carle Place and Jericho, the fire was placed under control in approximately 30 minutes with overhaul conducted. All operations were under the direction of Rescue Chief of Department Williams [5600]. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Text courtesy Over The Edge Photography.
