Just got word the RRV activation for this cold has been possibly canned .
Probably it’s to big of areas. Not sure why they activated RRVs that don’t have the MDTs. It’s supposed to be the Newer SSLs that have 4 doors and already have the EMS equipment on them plus the MCI bag. Only thing they needed was a AED. They activated 11 which there are q
14 newer SSLs only one that’s out of service is 50 I believe and maybe 117.

So the RRV's were to be going on cold exposure runs because EMS is in backlog? I don't imagine they can transport in the RRV and I'm assuming the members aren't putting homeless in the RRV to keep warm awaiting EMS. So what is their role? Hold the cold person's hand while they colder awaiting EMS?

Or just put more ambulances on the street. I believe the new commissioner knows, and is working on this. She knows the issues. The RRV’s are a waste.

Its a temporary stop gap really, obviously ambulances would be best case scenario, but the RRVs have to do whatever they can

CFR Companies as a whole could be considered a now permanent "stop-gap" to reduce first-on-scene response times and to better achieve the golden hour. While an engine company may be sub-optimal compared to an ambulance, its still an overall improvement over the quality of care to the patient compared to simply nothing.

Its also worth mentioning that the RRVs arnt just responding to people out of the cold. As mentioned they are responding to Segment 1-4 EMS Runs, which includes everything that CFR goes out for, but also likely with the addition of respiratory emergencies, stroke >2 hours, and other injuries.

Well I was told there is no am ambulances even if they wanted to put more in
