Rundown of units at 9-11

R5 had to have work done on the right side of the rig. It was damaged on 9/11. As for personnel; R5 was deeply impacted. Think it was 11 members in total from that company perished on 9/11. I think volunteer companies from middlesex and Monmouth counties assisted backfilling Staten Island firehouses

here's a list i made of units responded on 9/11 can't say definite accurate as there is a lot of places to look for info this is a partial list . sources include the transcripts of Manhattan dispatch videos of companys responding , pictures .... if there any mistakes or additions you want me to add just let me know

As far as Car 9, there were no Borough Commands in 2001.
As a result of the WTC attacks, the Borough Commands were re-established in 2002.

In terms of the 4 cars, I might have a bit of insight. My understanding is there used to be four ACs assigned as Citywide Tour Commanders. It worked differently than now in the sense of them being dedicated positions. Nowadays, ACs and DACs in other roles take a turn doing Citywide, I think a couple days a month each. But on 9/11, it was a dedicated position. ACs Barbara and Burns, who were both killed, were in those 4-cars, Car 4C and Car 4D I believe. AC Carruthers and AC Cassano were assigned the other two positions, obviously neither were killed and both went on to become Chief of Department at different times in the future. The reason I know this is it was detailed by Commissioner Nigro in one of the interviews he did around his retirement. He explained that her served in one of those citywide roles immediately before being named Chief of Operations, as he was on 9/11.

There’s a theory that the ECC of a South Bronx Engine that day led a convoy of Bronx companies in a direction (UNINTENTIONALLY) which put them at the site after both collapses, thus likely saving the lives of all those brothers!

It was either, E60, E50, E82, E71, E73, or maybe E83 or E94. I don't even think half of those companies are South Bronx but Google Maps is confusing when it comes to it. But if the theory is true, that ECC making a few wrong turns they just saved a whole lot of Bronx FF's.

It is one of the companies you listed but I am leaving that out.
