Saftey Chief/Battalion

I do not think FDNYEMS has there own Safety Battalion Chief, who goes out to minor ambulance accidents or injured MOS, I figured they would have there own. Any thoughts on this??.

Isn't it every apparatus involved accident w/ injury to members and/or civilians?

The Safety Battalion responds to all collisions involving Dept vehicles. The also respond to "significant" (cardiac episodes, burns, major trauma, etc.) injuries of Dept. employees.

SB01 gets assigned on all accidents involving dept vehicles. However a Few years ago they made a change where safety would not get assigned on ems accidents unless injuries are reported.

Most of the time, the responding Battalion arrives first and makes an assessment which is relayed to the SB. And most of the time that battalion is able to handle the situation without further assistance.
