San Francisco -Home of Big Water -Just like FDNY ??

If the gang in San Francisco can do this why can't Los Angles do this? Some of the L.A. area Conflagrations took place near the Ocean or other large bodies of water, use some inventive ideas when you need alot of water for major fires. Even in FDNY perhaps this is something we need to take a look at. Also note the San Francisco has I think 4 "Super Pumpers" either in service or soon to be in service. IF FDNY cannot use a few large capacity Pumping Unit= Super Pumper, units who can? I worked from time to time in the Old Mack FDNY Super Pumper system,

Wasn't San Fran's water mains damaged during the last major earthquake in the late 80's or early 90's? This rig and their supply from fire boats could save large areas of the city if this should happen again.
 
I visited San Francisco a few months after 9/11/01. On the kind invitation of members of SFFD Rescue 1, I met while sitting in a park with my wife, we visited their firehouse. When I told them where I worked in the FDNY we got into a long discussion about hydrant water supply at major fires.
They told me they had 5 (Five) sources of water supply in most areas of San Francisco, due to the danger of major fires from earthquakes.
#1 is the High-Pressure Hydrant system that could be supplied by fireboats,
#2 were the GREEN Reserve Pumpers that were maned by the water department, a Civil Defense as need to relay water to regular SFFD units if needed.
#3 was receiving water from fireboats directly and also, AND NOW the high-Capacity Super Pumper Water Tenders through large diameter Hose.
#4 was the Cisterns found under alot of intersections in many areas of the city. SFFD pumpers could draft water from the cisterns, in effect an underground water tank for firefighting use.
#5 is the normal standard Low Pressure hydrant system that can be divided by valves in the event of a water main damaged by earthquakes or
other reason, to bypass any damaged area of water main.
Perhaps other cities including Los Angles need to take a look at what SFFD had done in term of emergency water supply;
