Satellite units

When was the last time a satellite unit was placed into operation are there any pictures or video of it in using its main cannon or placing hoses thanks
 
I'm sure it's nowhere close to the last time a satellite was in use, but here's a short video of a Satellite stretching a line at a 5th Alarm in Queens in April 2014 .. .

who are they laying it for,their pumper ( engine 324 ) to supply themselves to use their monitor? if so, do they  back/drive  back up to the fire building ?
 
I found footage from the Williamsburg 7th alarm. Satellite 6 is on the scene and did not even stretch it's large diameter hose. Everybody was pouring water onto this building including two fire boats Multiple tower ladders all except you guessed it. Why bother rolling these pieces out ?  I believe the city is taking bids for new ones. My question is why? 
 
I wonder if the new sat will have pumps you think they would have a 3000 gpm pump to flow the water to help boost all that water any reason why they don?t buy I wish they were used more often especially that main gun
 
I was unaware there was a Satellite 6 but checking the unit location PDF it was @ E-207 in the late 90's. What did they use for an apparatus?

Satellite 6 was organized in late 1998 in place of the Maxi Water Unit.

If you go to Steve Spak's Website you will see a still shot of Satellite 6 in operation. Greenpoint 10 alarm fire 5.2.06 quite a a volume of fire.
 
Nasibova- they usually lay there line out to or from a water source and set up the manifold in the street. There associates engine company hooks up to the hydrant and pumps the LDH. The Manifold creates pretty much a portable hydrant. I believe the manifold has 6 discharges and is then utilized to supply more handlines, tower ladders, etc.. the satellites are more or less used as LDH hose wagons and to supply foam and equiptment for foam operations.
 
In response to 747 ,  Raybrag posted this a while back on replacements ---- According to Jack Lerch in the Jan-Feb 2018 Fire Apparatus Journal, Ferrara has been awarded the contract to build six new satellites to replace the 2002 &2006 Mack MRs.  They will be built on 2-door Peterbuilt 520 chassis (most common use for this chassis is garbage trucks), and will have room for 30 100 ft lengths of 6" hose, plus 8 lengths of 3 1/2" hose.  Plans are to take the existing Intelligiant  5-inch deck monitors, refurbish them and mount them on the new trucks.

The present Macks were refurbished twice i believe. 
 
Thank you, I guess I was more wondering as to when they would start building them?
 
I believe that the 520 chassis is only available with a tandem rear axle.  I may be thinking about the wrong chassis but I don't believe so.  It will be interesting to see if they do go with a tandem rear axle configuration.
 
The Peterbuilt 520 is available with either Dana-Spicer or Meritor rear axles, and is available in single, tandem or triple rear axle configuration.  Also, there are a variety of rear suspension options.  I don't have a clue what FDNY called for in their spec.  Here's where I got the info: https://www.peterbilt.com/resources/Truck%20Spec%20Sheets/520_Spec_Sheet_Hybrid.pdf
