When the Super System came into the FDNY in 65, the system was made up of 5 rigs. The pumper & tender was known as the Super Pumper Unit. Each of the satellites were assigned to out lying boroughs as the unit was in Brooklyn. Sat 1 started off at E-211, but was moved in to Lower Manhattan (E-31, 30, SQ5, E27, 33, 27, & 9), while Sat 2 went to the Bronx (E83 & 72). If I remember correctly, before going to E-72 in 1975, Sat 2 spent one or more days at E-43. Those qtrs did not work out for them, & they returned to E-83 & a short time later on they lost their manning & the unit was transferred to E-72. Sat 3 bouced around a few stations in Brooklyn E242, 330, 284, 330, & again 284. Each of the satellites (1, 2, & 3) originally were manned by two firefighters full time.
In 1983 Sat 4 & 5 were added to where they are currently housed.
Maxi-water was created in 1982 at E207 & became Sat 6 in 1998 after all the members of the Super Pumper System retired.
