Those of us who live upstate or in LI know the volunteers put it on the line every day. God bless this young man.
Are there any particulars on the type of building yet? How do we get this much fire in a hospital type building?
Was an old motel converted to the nursing home facility. Frame building for the most part with additions throughout the years. If youre familiar with rockland at all, its in the old “hill” section of the town that used to be and continues to be a real rough neighborhood, spring valley sees an abnormal amount of fire duty for a small village.

'this much fire in a hospital type building?' As an 'Upstate' Long-Time Resident, Former Certified Nurse Aide & NYS EMT/
Ambulance Crew Chief + ER Tech, I will say w/Some Confidence that this place was probably 'Regulated' more Residential than
Medical / Long Term Care Facility, and apparently Not Very Well at That. A Very Large, Old, Wooden, Multi-Room, Multi-Level Structure...

Late-Night Fire, Dedicated, Brave but Delayed Response by a Commendable Volunteer FD - Fire got a Good Head Start in a Very Big & Old
Wood Building.
God Bless Those Lost and Those Who Suffer.

A very sad story with his son turning 6 years old.

There will be many questions asked; "Why did a fire like this happen taking the life of a civilian and dedicated Volunteer Firefighter" ?

Thank you Chief JK (68jk09) for posting that Go Fund Me link.

May the Good Lord give the families and friends, as well as the Brother/Sister Firefighters of those lost, the strength to deal with this tragic event.
