There rig has been out for about 3 months now , One of the guys said it was the motor , I've seen them various times at jobs wanting to see the rig out of Quarters which I really haven't , only at a car accident , How much longer do you think it will be out ? They don't even have a Squad Spare , they have a Regular Egine , they now added a Water Rescue box to the top of the Spare , Looks like they're gonna have it for a while.

Nice spare huh?  Remember, this is the department that Commissioner Cassano calls, "the best trained, best equipped fire department in the world".  Right....

Haha , they said they only have the Engine because both Squad spares were being used but I was at the shops the other day and one The squad spares was there , the newer spare I believe it a 1998 seagrave it was with Squad 252 for a while and was involved in a minor accident. It seemed fine then I saw 61's rig just sittin there also

Correction A serious MVA here's the link , http://www.nybuff.org/2011/12/fdny-squad-truck-involved-in-mva.html

I realize people will think this is a dumb post but. You are purchasing 7 specializied rigs, is there any chance of a 8th "spare"  basic rig that could fit into any of the regular squads on a temporary basis.GG

When you say could fit into another Squad do you mean there firehouse ? Also I have a question about the '2' Squad spares , I thought there was only 1 , Squad 800 (1st Picture) , But now there is this one (2nd Picture) when did the second one come into action ? Who's ex - Rig is it ? Is it custom ? Because I know Squad 800 is Ex - Engine 66

a BASIC rig. I beleive all the rigs share the same wheelbase, length, and width. A basic rig that can operate with any squad rig in a squad house. It will be a TEMPORARY rig, a SPARE.

There's been two spare Squad rigs, a 1998 Seagrave which was ex Squad 41, and a 1992/93 Seagrave that had the wheelbase lengthened and the body from ex Squad 61 mounted on it.  Last I heard the 92 had been retired, it looks like that "new" spare is the body again remounted on another chassis.  Squad 800, the reserve squad, was a 1994 Seagrave ex E66 that had the body rebuilt by Texron; it's been retired and looks like it's on its way to a new owner - Old FDNY Squad being rehabbed to a city volunteer fire company @fdny #recycle

Just checked, the registration # on that "new" spare is SP00003 - ex E325, so yes another shops body remount.

My post was for specs for the new Squads. Make it easy for a spare Squad, we all know they are  365/24, they will need some work, especially if you run them to death. Get a temp new spare rig, not something from the boneyard!!!GG

Anybody have any idea where the Reserve Squad is going ?
Just figured this out it says City Volunteer Company , Aviation probably bought it , LOL.

Oceanic sold their Mack and I heard they're receiving a retired Seagrave, so I'm thinking old Squad 800 has a possibity of sitting in Travis once it's all over and done with.

Oceanic recieved a 98 Seagrave Engine that is already in service and running...the old squad is definitely not going to them

West Hamilton Beach ? They have an old Mack CF Squad.

I forgot about West Hamilton but I'd say after the refurb on their Mack, it's probably kept in better shape than anything sold off by FDNY.

True , right now , My Bet is still with Aviation , even though they were told to shut down they're still probably not listening

Re: Former reserve Squad 800:

This 1994 Seagrave (Reg.# SP9414), was disposed of by FDNY on October 18, 2011.  It has been acquired by the West Hamilton Beach VFD. Originally a regular pumper assigned to Engine 66, it was retrofitted with a squad body in February 2005 and then designated as the reserve squad (Squad 800) and carried squad equipment. Also, former spare pumper SP9718, a 1997 Seagrave originally Engine 40, has been obtained by the Oceanic VFD as of February 28, 2012.

Thank you I thought it would either Be West Hamilton Beach or Aviation.
