Atlas said:Alot depends upon the city's budget. The mayor again stated that he has to close 20 fire companies - this is his way to gain public support for FD which will force him to cuts other agencies. S.I. has been a leader in buying special equipment for the fire dept. They are getting a new police station - the 121st Pct. should being opening up this year up the raod from Eng 166's quarters. So lets sit back & see what happens. A new Squad can be used for South Brooklyn & also in upper Manhattan.
New squad would probably be best for Staten Island or south brooklyn near the Verrazano. I seriously can't believe how long of a trek they have Squad 1 make every time SI has a fire. In rush hour traffic that can easily be an hour long ride. Upper Manhattan maybe like Upper East or Upper West, but still not as bad as Staten Island.
Also has the city announced when the 121 opens? I'm assuming the 122 satellite closes down, which had a new UD truck sitting near it today.
