The Quiambaug FD was dispatched to a possible structure fire with smoke reportedly coming from the roof and eaves. First arriving units reported heavy smoke from the roof area and chimney. Mutual aid was immediately requested from Mystic FD and Old Mystic FD. A FAST team was requested from the Groton Sub Base FD. Due to no hydrants in the area, a tanker was special called from the Wequetequock FD. Ambulances and a paramedic also responded.
The occupants had left the home prior to FD arrival. One youngster was evaluated for smoke inhalation. Mystic FD was able to extend their aerial through dense trees to allow firefighters to vent the roof and open up around the chimney.
