For those of you that did not have the honor of working with Captain Bob Farrell, Firefighter in L.4, Lieutenant and Captain of Ladder 31 during the 60's and 70's and the "War Years", and the "Bronx is Burning".
You probably did not know, because he never talks about it..he was a Navy Seal in the Korean War, before they were called Seals..they were called UDT.....he operated with his team behind North Korean lines...
so he is not only a FDNY multi decorated hero ,but he is also a Korean War Hero...he is also one of the most generous men I know. He personally donates to the Elsasser Fund and the Honor Legion and helps keep them running. Well he is going to kill me, because he never is looking for praise, he is very low key about his charity work, but he just donated $10,000 to the Lt. Joseph P.
DiBernardo Memorial Foundation.
They don't make them like him anymore.
