  I saw Nick Santo at one of the Doo Wop Shows a few years ago at the Mohegan Sun Casino. I'm sorry to hear of his death. I wasn't aware of Emile Stucchio of the Classics also being a cop. Great tune "Til Then".

  Bauser always puts on a good show at the Mohegan Sun Casino. And if you get out that way, look up Uncle Willy, I'm only a short distance away.

One member of the Capri's later became a city police officer. They came from Ozone Park in Queens.

  That is it "Lucky". Thank you. Now I remember. The Capri's were one of the groups playing at the show and Bouser had said. "one member just retired from the New York City Police Dept".

Thanks for all the information on the Doo Wop singers, and how many became New York City Police Officers. Any of them become FDMY members ?

  I have those Doo Wop videos from the Doo Wop shows, "Doo Wop 50, Doo Wop 51, Rock, Rythm and Doo Wop Greatest Songs", etc. Some Great DVDs and Great Music.

  In a little "Blast from the Past", from the "Leave it to Beaver Show", I believe the guy that played "Wally" became a member of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

  There were No Cell phones, or Computers and I wonder how we did it. But what a Great time to grow up if you were into some Great Music and chasing fire trucks (see: "My Younger Buff Years" in History)

Marlowe (Lowe) Murray sang with the Fi-Tones Quintette and The Fi-Tones, as was the problem with many grps back then, they were  not making money. He became a Fireman and worked in Eng 235 and later transferred to L 132. he was hurt at a fire in 1970 and had to leave the job.he was contacted by Raul Cita and offered a job with the Harptones and sang with them until he died last year. I buffed 280 & 132 when I was a kid 10yrs old (1952) until I got married in 1963 and moved to Flatbush. I knew Lowe when he worked at the "Eye Of The Storm"

Yes, Don Cruz was a cop in the So. Bronx, not sure if it was the 40 or 42. He used to come to my post office window and say hi. Last time I saw him he was with Willie Winfield and the Harptones. He replaced Marlowe Murray who had passed away. BTW, Marlowe Murray was a retired member of Engine 235 and I remember how we used to shoot the breeze about firefighting in Bed-Stuy during the 60's & 70's.

  The ETERNALS (very good friends) have at least 3 former cops. Two of them were in the Aviation Unit. A funny thing that used to happen backstage was seeing them securing their weapons before going out onstage in their tuxedoes.

As I remember, Lowe Murray transferred into L-132 from Squad 3. He was in the tiller seat when 132 was t-boned on Classon Ave and Bergen St (I think that was December 1969). That was the accident that severely injured John Bedell and seriously injured the rest of that day's crew, including Lowe who got tossed from the tiller seat. It was that accident that ultimately caused Lowe to retire.

Yes, I was a member of the "house bands" at large NYC concert venues like Westbury Music Fair, Madison Sq. Garden, Izod Arena, Mohegan Sun and A/C Casinos. Lowe was a good guy backstage, drank quite a bit but always friendly. I remember doing a show at Queens College and seeing Don Cruz in his place onstage with the Harptones. That's when they informed me that Lowe was diagnosed with cancer and was having exploratory surgery. Sadly, he was gone in a couple of weeks.

FYI ......Public Broadcasting System  (PBS) which here in NYC is shown on WNET Channel 13 (but is shown on different channels depending on the locale) is offering a new show "Doo Wop Love Songs"....it aired earlier today & was very  good.....it is on again much later tonight which actually will be Sunday 8-19-12 from 4 am to 6 am & again Sun evening from 11pm to 1 am Mon....set your DVR .

  Thanks Chief for that info. I'm hoping that they will come out with a DVD of it because I won't be able to watch it, and I don't have a DVR. (I certainly need to get one and learn how to use it). I may just be able to catch the very end of it Sunday (8/19) evening. This is some Great Music.
