The Ventures/Days of Doo Wop

Some Christmas songs by Doreen Arminio ...daughter of RET FF Tom Brusca ENG*310.
DOREEN ARMINIO CHRISTMAS SONG.

I remember tuning in during Covid in 2021, for the Arminio's live kitchen concerts as they performed in their kitchen for us.

If anybody wants to check them out, they can still be seen on YouTube.
Just type in "Stiletto & The Saxman Quarantine Concert - Live from the Kitchen".

Sadly, their dog Basil that you see in some of their songs has since gone to 'DOGGIE HEAVEN".

Richard Perry, Failed Doo-Wop Singer, Dies

Brooklyn born Richard Perry passed away last week at age 82. As a youth, he attended Alan Freed concerts at the Brooklyn Paramount; he was a member of the vocal groups the Legends and then the Escorts who tried recording in the early 1960's. After college he also failed on Broadway, but found a spot producing pop records.

Described as a commercial genius and a "song doctor" of "frightening" sound clarity, he would go on to produce hit records for Ella Fitzgerald, Tiny Tim, Fats Domino, Barbra Streisand, Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, Ringo Starr, Carly Simon, Diana Ross, Andy Williams, The Pointer Sisters, Julio Iglesias, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart..... among others.

Johnny Maestro's last live performance was at a "Bowzer's Rock N Roll Party" at the Mohegan Sun Arene on January 17, 2010.
Sadly he passed away nine weeks later at the age of 70, in March, 2010.

Also, Wayne Osmond, one of the Osmond Brothers passed away on January 1, '25 at the age of 73.

I'm sure this will bring back some memories as the young Osmonds join in on the Andy Williams Show

Coming from the city which gave the world the Beatles, it is always expected that I have a Beatles story or two to share. The reality is, they were way before my time, although my late mother met them all on several occasions and even attended McCartney's 21st birthday party.

My late mother loved music and was lucky enough to attend the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool during the 1960's when it was THE place to perform. The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, John Lee Hooker, all appeared at The Cavern.

When we would sit and talk about music, my mother would always say her favourite occasion was one evening back in the 1970's when her and a friend were at a club in Liverpool. They were young women back then, very early 20's and happened to wonder into a bar only to bump into the band who were playing that night. My mum said they were absolute gentlemen, warm, funny and very respectful but most of all, they played some of the best music she ever heard. That band was The Drifters.

When my mum passed in 2019 we played You're More than a Number in My Little Red Book at her funeral.

I attended Bowzer's Final Performance at the Mohegan Sun Arena (January 19, 2025) and the show was GREAT.
It lasted about 4 hours with about a 1/2-hour intermission.

Bowzer took time to show us videos from previous shows of entertainers who are no longer with us.
Guys like Jay Black of Jay and the Americans, Johnny Mastro of the Brooklyn Bridge, and Ronnie Spector of the Ronettes.

9/11 FDNY singer Frank Pazzaro was there singing the music of the Platters.
Jay Siegal who could still reach those high notes at 85 years old.
Johnny Contardo from the Sha-Na-Na TV Show.
They were ALL GREAT

Bowzer even introduced everybody to his doctor who is currently treating him for some back problems.

The place was packed and maybe some of you were there.

Here's a video from the show.
