Just one man's thought! I think we should do our next get together whenever G-Man has a gig! We could all catch the G-Man in action! Any other thoughts?

One of the greatest instrumental groups of the time. Numerous hit singles and albums (you know those vinyl 33 1/3 RPM records that came in a cardboard sleeve.) Sad to read recently that Nookie Edwards of the Ventures suffered a stroke or some other debillitating illness. If you ever have a chance to hear their redition of Gary Lewis' "Green Grass" or another favorite "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue", take a listen. It's damn good music.

50 years ago and those Diamonds can still put on a show. I them them a couple of years ago at a Bouzer Doo wop Show at the Mohegan Sun Casino. They were Great along with all the other Great Doo Wop groups that were there.

I recently heard that one of the members of the group passed away. I'm not sure which one.

And if anybody wants some good Doo Wop DVDs, "Doo Wop 50 and 51" are Great. Another good one was "Rock, Rythum, and Roll". They might be tough to find though.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Carroll once at the public school on Amsterdam Avenue during my early years in EMS. What a gentleman to talk to for a few minutes. Very unassuming and just a guy who you would want to sit with and have a cold one.
From "Speedo" to "Gloria" and "Peek-A-Boo" and others he was quite a showman. Rest in Peace Earl. Heaven must have some great doo-wop shows.

YES, BTW, Jay Traynor currently sings with Jay Seigel & the Tokens and Jay Black is still performing although his age is starting to show.

G-man, do you know if Traynor and Vance were with the "Harborlites" out of Breezy Point before they became "Jay & The Americans?" I've heard that said but I could never get a confirmation on that.

Your sister's an R.N. Chief? My wife spent an eternity as an R.N. in the E.R. at St. John's on the Q.B. and later as the director of the trauma E.R. at Mary Immaculate

I don't know but I'll ask next time I'm on a gig with either one.

Jay Traynor and Kenny Vance (Rosenberg) were in the "Harbor Lights" in Brooklyn and were original Jay & Americans,Jay Traynor left for a solo career and the rest of the Americans had tryouts for a new lead singer and settled on David Blatt who was lead of a group The "Empires" out of Tilden HS in Bklyn, Blatt changed his name to Jay Black, Rosenberg to Vance, the rest is History.  Hope this helps, info from a book called "American Singing Groups" by Jay Warner.
