Time for a Get Together

The machine gun story:  Willy D, CFDMarshall, fdce54 and JBendick were entering  the Pentagon for a tour and a visit with the Pentagon fire chief.  Two forms of government ID are required to get through the robust security to enter the Pentagon. Willy D and fdce54 only had one ID each.  They were not allowed entry and warned to leave the area immediately.  Willy D did not comply and was immediately challenged by an officer with an automatic weapon.  Challenged is a polite description. That's the rest of the story.

Were they implying that "Willy D" looks suspicious ?

Thanks alot guys. Now they probably won't let us into Breezy Point either after they read this.  >:(  >:(

Are you telling us that the GREAT ONE back down to a woman with a automatic weapon!  Willie what happened??????

Atlas, I wasn't too great that day. All I know is that a young lady in uniform told me to leave. I tried to joke about it, but all she said was "Sir, Leave Now". She started to point that machine gun in my direction. I somehow got the impression that she might not be kidding.

"Fdce54" was no help at all. He said something to her like "give us a running head start and we still can't run quick enough". I guess he meant we're too old to run.

We plan to car pool from the hotel area. Those not familiar, there are tolls to cross the bridge to Staten Island on Saturday.

If you fly in, JFK Airport isn't too far from the hotel.

As a reminder, we will ask for a donation for our two charities.

Dinner at Fort Hamilton Army Base cost $5.00 for soup and sandwich, or $10.00 for the buffet. "It's really good'.

We have a schedule to follow. We hope to follow that schedule. You can attend one day or both days. Just let me know.

Simple rules to go by. Good conduct. No booze until after the tours.

If you have a GPS bring it and don't forget to bring your camera and a scanner if you want.

Just a good idea to always lock your car doors and belongings.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a "pm" or I'm sure you can ask "Atlas"

"Atlas" put a lot of work into this. All so that we can get together, have a good time, a few laughs, learn a little about the FDNY, and have some good chow. I appreciate what he did.

  Okay Rev.

And Best Western Hotel phone number is: (718) 769-5000. I have my room booked (W.D.)

Just another piece of information for everyone. There are also tolls for the bridges into and out of the Rockaways whether or not everyone uses Flatbush Ave or Cross Bay Blvd. If you use E-Z Pass it shouldn't affect anything but just in case the people renting cars don't have any. At least they don't cost as much as the other bridges.

Member "STAjo" (Joe W.) has confirmed that he will be attending, from Wallkill, NY.

Joe W. would like to ride with one of us rather than drive. "I think we can work that out".

He did have a question about group rates at the hotel and the only thing I know is that there is a discount for "AAA" and "AARP" members.

And just got the word from "G-man" (Tom E. ). He will join us but just might have to leave a little early because of his music engagements. Great news Tom.

I spoke to a FDNY chief tonight & he MIGHT be able to come as a speaker to one of our dinners. If so, he might be able to answer a few of your questions.  Still at work looking to full in a few blanks.... Any ideas?
