Time for a Get Together

Maybe we will be able to get Willy D. to try Roll N Roaster in place of Mickey D's

Steve "svd385", sounds like a plan to me. I'm always willing to try a new dish. And that sounds fine to me.

But how about yourself, you gonna try to meet up with us. Even just for the chow, if not the tour.

My current plan is to venture out there on Thursday afternoon and  stay till chechout time on Sunday morning.  I just have to get off my duff and make the reservations.  On my way home, depending on how I'm feeling I might stop off at Broad Channel and Richmond Engine.

Great, you've been with us for many of the other Get Togethers. So get off that duff and do it. I'll give you a call soon to remind you.

  Big Hugs.

By the way, from what I gather so far, once again it's more like a "Senior Citizens Outing". I think the "youngest" member so far to join us is about 55 years old. We have had a few younger individuals inquire though.

I trust all will have a great time at the get together. I had planned on making the next one which is this one but I have to come up from Florida the following week for the 280-132 Centennial,so that being said everyone have a great time as I was looking forward to meeting the members on this board.

I know who you are Rev. I just wanted to see if you were paying attention.

Jack "JOR176", yes, we'd sure like to have you join us. Come on up a week ahead of time and you could stay at the Willy D Estate. It's no Holiday Inn, but it's a place to flop for a few nights.

We plan to car pool from the hotel area. Those not familiar, there are tolls to cross the bridge to Staten Island on Saturday.

If you fly in, JFK Airport isn't too far from the hotel.

As a reminder, we will ask for a donation for our two charities.

Dinner at Fort Hamilton Army Base cost $5.00 for soup and sandwich, or $10.00 for the buffet. "It's really good'.

We have a schedule to follow. We hope to follow that schedule. You can attend one day or both days. Just let me know.

Simple rules to go by. Good conduct. No booze until after the tours.

Just a good idea to always lock your car doors and belongings.

If you have any questions feel free to give me a "pm" or I'm sure you can ask "Atlas"

"Atlas" put a lot of work into this. All so that we can get together, have a good time, a few laughs, learn a little about the FDNY, and have some good chow. I appreciate what he did.

Those planning to attend, so far I have (I will update this list as I get the names):
        1) CFDMarshall - Elwood E.
        2) fdce54 - Frank D.
        3) mack - Joe M.

        7) Atlas - Ken F.
        8) Anesti -  (Saturday Tour)
        9) Parkave32 - Bill J.  (Friday dinner and Saturday tour)

Just a reminder, we would like to get a head count by Tuesday Oct 1st. So if you are planning on joining us, please let us know.

And don't do what this dummy did. First, when I booked the hotel, I had made a mistake and only booked it for ONE NIGHT and not the TWO. But when I went to change my reservations, I couldn't do that. So I called their toll free number (1-800-780-7234) and told them I had trouble changing it. Turns out I booked the room for SEPTEMBER 18th and NOT OCTOBER 18th. "I wondered why I got charged for it already". So now I have to call the hotel and try to plead my case to get my credit back.

I have to wonder, If things are this bad already, what's gonna happen when I turn "39" ? ? ? And now I know how Johnny D (johnd248) must feel.

        10) svd385 - Steve D.

I would like to add, Steve D "svd385" to the list of members for this Get Together. I've known Steve I believe since the first Get Together. A Great Guy. Glad he is joining us. I know most of the others also. Some good people. A little old, but good. "Anesti", if you don't mind, looks like you'll be with a group of Senior Citizens. We may need you to remind us of where we are supposed to go next. Or in case one or two of us doesn't remember who we are. So it's important that you know exactly who we are.

I believe the plans are made. "Atlas" (Kenny F.) did a great job in organizing this ENTIRE event. Let's hope for some good weather. A safe trip for those traveling from a distance. I will be sure to contact everybody a few days before. The Best Western Hotel will be our morning meeting place. I think 8:30 am would be a good time for everybody to be in the lobby of the hotel. And "Atlas" has advised me that we will be on a planned schedule and we need to follow that. I know from the past that sometimes it is tough to do. But in order to see what has been planned, we all need to follow that.

Just for future consideration, maybe for future Get Togethers, we can plan them as a regular thing for the Third Friday/Saturday of October. It is a pretty good time of the year. The temperatures are usually confortable in New York then and most of the tourist are back home giving us a better hotel rate. That way people can make some plans.

This picture has to be from a Willy D's nightmare:

I am sure Willy D ate a Big Mac or two at this location.  Sad.

You're right "mack", I did eat there and it is a nightmare. But there'll be no Micky Ds on October 18th or 19th. Unless I have to make one of those Drive Up midnight runs.

But I know a few of these guys and I may not be the only one making that midnight run. They are probably programming their GPS right now.

You won't believe this, but I think I was there at the same time with my girlfriend. This Wendy's is not far from home. I don't know if you guys were buffing but I remember saying to her that I thought you guys were. I was tempted to go over and ask, but I chickened out.
