Late on the night of Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022, the Valley Stream Fire Department operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] at 20 Ella Street in the dead end off Shaw Avenue. Those first to arrive on scene were met with a fully involved detached garage located behind a two-story private dwelling. Firefighters quickly put the first hand line into place and not only knocked down the bulk of the fire in the garage but also prevented extension to the residence. Lynbrook was designated the FAST and Valley Stream Engine 4 was the first engine company to arrive on scene. Nassau County Hazmat was called to the scene for a pair of propane tanks that were inside of the garage and briefly hindered the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Valley Stream Chief of Department O’Brien [3400]. Text & photo courtesy K2M Photography.
