There is a growing and significant trend for new apparatus to be purchased solid red with no dual colors (eg white over red cabs). Personally I would like to see FDNY go retro with all red rigs and the current striping scheme. Maybe someone who is good with photoshop can whip us up a few renditions

I agree with you that a full red apparatus would look amazing. Let's take it a bit further and make the boom on all TLs red too. I know that's a bit much

It would be asking too much but some gold leaf letters (FDNY) and company numbers would be great. Just sayin' because it wont happen.

I think the last gold leaf I saw on a city rig was ladder 119 when they had the Sutphen.

I believe Engine 88 in the Bronx has maintained the tradition of gold leaf numbers.

38 has a new (2023) Seagrave and so far, except for the chrome bumper, they have not customized the rig. If anyone has the latest pictures, please post them.

Yep, there it is, 38 in gold on the 2012 and some others in the past. And we can agree that the aerial is in gold on just about all those pictures. Great research.

38 is also distinctive for the bell mounted on the front cab. Also handed down from rig to rig.

Any other companies on the job still have bells mounted on their rigs?
