Description: Units responded to a gas leak in a townhouse complex. While evacuating apartments, an explosion occurred injuring several firefighters and civilians. (2) Firefighters transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious burns. Stat Flight had been requested. Building completely collapsed with (2) Tower Ladders and multiple handlines in operation.
1213hrs- Utility crews rpt striking a gas main.
1300hrs- Explosion and collapse of (1) townhouse unit.
1600hrs- (2) Firefighters being treated for 1st and 2nd degree burns and multiple fractures. (2) other injured are utility workers from Orange/Rockland Gas.
