On the morning of Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, the Westbury Fire Department along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a multiple alarm fire at the Grand Lux Cafe on Old Country Road off Ring Road. Firefighters stretched and operated at least three hand lines for a fire that appeared to have begun in the kitchen of the restaurant before extending up to the second floor and into the roof. Those inside the building at the time the fire broke out were able to safely evacuate. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department Carr [9601]. (Text Credit K2M)
