So question for some of the senior men on this site. The Rescue Companies of the late 50’s and early 60’s had much smaller bodies, a series of small compartments and no really large compartment doors. Back then they did not have much in the way of what a current Rescue carries. No hurst tool compliment, no air bags, no struts, no cold water suits, probably no dive gear, very limited gas detection, looks like no generator, very few specialty saws, no confined space equipment, etc

So what did they carry back then in those compartments and the interior.?

Cap,

If you have access to it, the WNYF First Issue of 1969 has a good article addressing your question. If you don't, maybe someone could post it here.

I can't answer the question of what equipment the Rescues carried back then, but the picture sure takes me back to my first introduction to the FDNY way back almost 60 years ago riding with Rescue 2.
They were on Carlton Ave then with Engine Co 210.
