What was this man of Engine 17 like?

I never met the man nor heard of him until now. I willing to bet that he was devoted to his wife and children, a man of good morals and principles, a good firefighter and a Lt. who looked after his men like he did his family. He was always striving for the best in his personal and professional life, he was one of the Bravest, a New York City Firefighter and judging by the rig in the photo as well as the moustaches on the men it was during the war years. Like I said..I didn't know of him or have ever met him...but that is my impression. I hope that answers your inquiry sir.

Thank you!

PS From the looks of it, that photo may have actually been taken in the '80s as you can tell by the hairstyle and the apparatus, which was a Mack CF, although Mack CF's were around during the "War Years" until the '90s.
