Companies listed on the first line of the 2-2 are those companies that responded on the 2nd; those on the the following line are companies that relocated to units operating at the fire.


In those days relocators never responded to the same incident as the company filled.

If you notice for the 2 alarm on the second line lists all the relocators that go along with that alarm.
 
When I was 1st on the job I was assigned to, the now, long-closed Engine 27. Most of the members of E-27 at that time, were at the Wooster Street collapse. You could see in their eyes that it still bothered them and very few would talk about it. I did hear from them that after the collapse the debris was so well packed that they never thought that any one of the firemen had survived. So, the any rescues and removals were very unexpected to them. Remember back then there were no F.A.S.T. Teams and little training for non-Rescue Co. firemen. The rescue that was made was by Rescue 1 an old W.N.Y.F. had a photo of the smiling face of the firemen that were rescued. POINT in fact rescue Companies were started to rescue firemen/firefighters and that even now is the Rescue Companies main focus and duty. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired
 
A bit off the sadness of this post but look at the "Assignment Card" and notice how many of the engine companies do not exist any longer.
