Solon Place was between Randall Avenue and Cincinattus Place.

It was eliminated west of Havemeyer Avenue when the projects were built, and on the east side of Havemeyer Avenue, it's a huge FedEx complex/building.

Back in the mid to late 1970's I worked in the 10473 zip code post office that delivered there. Solon Pl. was on route #20 but was closed off by the Castle Hill Houses and the industrial area by Zerega Ave.

Mystery solved. Great work guys!

Love that old street map. Is that the one that used to fold out of a small red NYC Street Guide published decades ago?

Thank you everyone for the help. It is greatly appreciated!
I am currently mapping out the Bronx boxes (like I did for Manhattan) and every now and then I get stumped

It would be interesting to see what named streets where eliminated due to these types of construction projects. I was googling Solon Street and found a site that talked about how some streets in da Bronx got there names.

See John McNamara’s book, “History in Asphalt”. You can get it through the Bronx Historical Society website.

Good team effort.

Always good to have one of our best resources involved - Gman!

This is why he is "Gman".

That map is from the back of "History in Ashphalt". One of my favorite all-time books.

For those who don't know, it has the current, original and old names of every street in the Bronx - along with a good history of the origin. Even "trails" and geographic area

John McNamara was a Bronx historian from Throggs Neck. He had several books published. Most available from the Bx Historical Society.
