Don’t think TL33 will get it since they had one already.... they can’t make the turn out of the firehouse.... TL45 makes sense
33 had the 95 a few times. I think they had a Mack 95 foot tower and the more recent Seagrave 95 foot tower.

I wonder if there is any need for more on Staten Island. They only have one on the island; 85.

45 can barely make the turn on a lot of their 1st due area side streets. A 95 would not help.
It also must noted that the parking situation in most of the Bronx and Upper Manhattan has reached a never seen before level. EVERY hydrant is parked on, almost every street has 24hr a day double parked cars. And almost every corner crosswalk has a parked car. There are literally more cars than spaces. Pumpers have difficulty getting around.
The brass and the PD are well aware. Tickets seem to do nothing. Physical removal or illegally parked autos is the only hope for change.

Was thinking TL22 wouldn’t be a bad spot for a 95 footer or TL21.... for sure a 95 is needed in central Manhattan

I too always wondered if SI would get a 2nd 95', if TL85 is OOS or unavailable that leaves the island without one. 85 is centrally located on the island at least. They don't call it "Monster Truck" for nothin!

Just from looking over photos in the past 20 years or so 4 companies 14,51,85 & 161 have gone from 75’s to 95’s. With 85 and 161 having switched from 95 to 75 and back. On the other side 33, 50, 131, 153, 164 have gone from 95’s to 75’s.

50 and 51 swapped rigs. Couldnt make it out of 50s quarters with a 95 footer

I wonder what the actual measurement is on the difference on the size of the trucks is, it appears is that full cabinet but the axles are in the same position, makes that tail whip a problem with what I can assume is tight streets to begin with.

If memory on the 2000s at Ladder 85 is correct...
If I recall correctly the issues with 85 were that their 2002 Seagrave 95' was a lemon. They were constantly in a spare as that truck kept having frame issues (believe it was cracked frame). Rig was finally taken out of front line and put to CTS and then somehow found its way back to front line service as a long term spare at ladder 12. Sometime in 2005 while these issues were ongoing and ladder 85 was constantly in a 1994 75' spare they were reassigned Ladder 84's 2003 75' when Ladder 84 was converted to a Rearmount receiving a 2001 Seagrave 100' rearmount ex BOT as their front line truck. For 84 this made sense as there was no Rearmount on the south shore; 82 was the only one prior to this. For ladder 85 this did not make sense as the monster truck doesn't seem so monstrous when it is a 75' :ROFLMAO:

Ladder 85 was temporarily assigned a 2013/2014 75' before they got their 2014 95' that they have today.

The 95’ that 85 has was supposed to go to 79. But it didn’t fit in the firehouse with the battalion, which is why 85 got it.

That part I never knew! I never understood why the department would try it out at a different house if 85 fits the truck, is more centrally located to provide that 95’ coverage to the entire island and the only reason they were changed to a 75’ (from what I was told) is that front line rig was a lemon.

Guess it makes sense. There’s still 2002-2004 75’ trucks active in the spare pool and it seems like those rigs are always catching the action. Nearly every multi alarm has a spare Arielscope.
