RIP Brother...Prayers & condolences to the Foster family
Sorry to hear of John’s passing. Worked with him 9 yrs at L131. Always knew it would be a great tour with Johnny pennies. John collected pennies and would sort them by year, mint etc. His locker must have weighed a ton with all the pennies and the guys would always empty their pockets and give John their pennies,lol.
I remember John one snowy night, we had a good job in a store and John carried out a German shepherd guard dog and gave it mouth to mouth in the street. The BC saw it and told the Officer to write him up for an ASPCA award. Never heard of it but John was given a $$ Savings Bond from the ASPCA.
Another quick story, the city was tearing up the streets around Red Hook and there were piles of Belgium Blocks left on the street John asked if he could have some and took trip after trip with his car back to Staten Is. His car looked like it was dragging on the ground, he finished his patio but had to buy a new car!
