Here’s a little game to play for fun. Let’s pretend I am a billionaire who wants to pay for the addition of three ladder companies anywhere in the 5 boros of NYC. Don’t worry about the location you would put them at. I will pay for firehouse expansion or the acquiring of real estate and building of a new firehouse. So here is the question for you to answer Where would YOU put them? Have fun. 😄
 
One at E217 (Brooklyn)
One at the RDC where Reserve rescue and squad are kept (Brooklyn)
One at E168 (SI)
 
Can we get another Eng and Ladder on City Island? They don't have to be fully staffed. It can be a volly company for all I care. 2nd Due to City Island is pretty far from CL.
 
@ Engine 91/L43 was moved in with E53 in East Harlem back in the day. East Harlem is a booming area with the 2nd Ave subway being extended. Another ladder could go in with E91
 
Re-establish E-261, E-212 and E-209. New BC on Staten Island. New Ladder in E-168 and new Engine and Ladder in Starrett City. Re-establish E-154 as an engine and maintain SQ-8.

Still pending L57, L60, L133*, L139, L141, and L145 for their originally planned locations. L133* was originally going to 206.

Again with a Truck at 283? With 120, 123,170, and 174 surrounding 283 and now Rescue in Brownsville, no need for another truck company. If that were the case, 176 would have went there instead of with 233.

annual loss is minus 3.84%

New York City debt FY 2000 $39.55 Billion
FY 2020 $95.27 Billion

Truth In Accounting ranks NYC 75th worst (out of 75) for taxpayer burden for five years running.

NYC Retirement Funds are 50% underfunded- $47 billion for pensions, $115.5 billion for healthcare

As a start, pick 20 engine companies and 10 ladder companies to close.

I live in Jersey, and I see why people move. Not just climate, but if its up in North Jersey (Union, Essex, Hudson and Bergen Counties speciffically) its crime. People decide to steal cars with kids inside while the owner is within 15 feet of them and while on a 4k Camera angle.

Did you ever think that that area, which is commonly referred to as the “trackless triangle“ is actually a very heavy engine area. numerous trucks in that area with a very respectable response times to that area...108 , 124, 102 , 112 , 111. All very close . Many other areas of the city that could use a truck. Staten Island , Starrett City , Eastern Queens, Hudson Yards could use a E &T… to name a few.

True if they hadn't moved 108 to union Avenue I don't think the truckless triangle would exist today
 
After reading the comments I started thinking about this.
In Queens - activate Ladder 171 in the qtrs of Engine 329. Then relocate Ladder 137 to Engine 266.
Eng 266 shared qtrs years back with Engine 267 (shutdown), Ladder 121, Batt 47. So there is room
for the ladder co. This was Ladder 137 will take some of the workload off of TL-121 & also increase
coverage to the Broad Channel Community.

Build a new fire house in Brooklyn to provide proper coverage for Starrett City are is a must!!! These companies
will reduce the workload on Eng 225, 257, and 290 besides Ladders 103, 107, & 170.

Forget about creating double sections, they are too each for City Hall to close because if we are not closing a firehouse
the public is not concerned.

There are a few communities that can use an additional truck company so that total response time is reduced. Total response time
is defined as the time for the entire assignment to arrive within.

So with that in mind, Throggs Neck & City Island areas of the Bronx, Make be the Pelham Bay section needs a fire house to provide proper
coverage? Placing additional fire companies on City Is full time, not needed. Adding additional units on Easter Sunday, Mothers Day, & even the 4th of July, & of course during storms would be helpful.

In Manhattan, the 1st due ladder to 42nd Street & 5th Ave comes from the 4th due engine co's quarters.

Real estate is expensive & not easy to find. So where there are developments in planning, have the contractor build a new firehouse within the complex.
