Hartford, Ct Vacant 21 bay garage fire 10/19/25

How many companies does Hartford staff and what's the compliment on each engine and truck? They seem to stay pretty busy.
 
Hartford is around 130k population with high levels of poverty and a large amount of what I'd call "borderline" old housing stock. Unfortunately there seems to be a resultant high level of activity for HFD. There is a fair amount of mutual aid that happens around here: I live in West Hartford which is a separate municipality (though I'm always a New Yorker at heart). There is back and forth over the City line both ways between HFD and our own full-time professional FD.

They are busy. They have a few companies doing 5000 plus runs a year. The 2 District Chiefs do about 4600 runs a year each. I'm not sure what the Deputy Chief (Car 6) does for runs but I'd say 3-400 a year.
