The request was for a TL only to the scene, as per FDNY policy a mutual aid request must go through the proper channels before to be approved. The 3rd and final request was approved around 05:15 and a decision was made to send 2E, 2L & 1BC which ultimately got cancelled enroute.

Who approves it Brad? Citywide tour commander or higher up?

By my mapping, E63/L39/BN15 are 13 minutes away from this box, meaning some large portion of that mutual aid assignment was much further away than the FDNY units. Wonder what the rationale was for not getting this requested or approved quickly.

E63 & L39 do not relocate and respond to first and second alarms within nyc only.

Im surprised to see New Rochelle didnt get tapped for more assets, Yorktown always seemed to get the lionshare of Mt Vernon assignments from their fleet. Especially with rigs coming all the way down from White Plains, thats a haul.

Interesting to see Larchmont TL7 on the job, that rig is old and not lacking for operational issues, but for surround and drown ops any tower is a good tower guess!

Well, as far as I am concerned that is stupid. The people of Mount Vernon do not care about borders or policies - they want and deserve the best possible response when a box comes in - so in my view it is incumbent on the leadership of the MVFD and FDNY to generate interoperability to provide the best possible response to residents. If that means back-filling 63/39 or getting hydrant adapters or doing joint training or whatever, why not? It is crazy to have 11 members (at least) sitting in quarters a short ride from this fire as it escalated and to have those members prevented from responding due to bureaucracy. The public deserves the fastest possible response in all cases.

Larchmont T-7 is a 95 Footer plenty of reach.
