    Engine 15 original firehouse

There are a few other firehouses built during the same time period, still in operation with the same issue of a narrow bay door,

    Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

If you think about it, it was quite common...3 piece combination companies way back when, then TCU's, second sections and Squads, etc that filled up typical firehouses to capacity. And since almost all firehouses were built in mid-block, that made it even more congested.

    Firehouses - Bronx: E50 L19

Actually this firehouse was original quarters of Ladder 18 for a few months. L 18 was disbanded, E 50 a combination company took over... and the rest is history...Years later L 18 was re-organized in Manhattan.

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

Nigro as Asst FDNY Chief oversaw the MERGER of EMS, he was never the Chief of EMS, that is another title.

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

Within their own rank and file, primarily concerning severe understaffing, low pay (pay disparity with firefighters), burnout, and discrimination claims, leading to ongoing union battles, recruitment/retention problems, and even proposals to separate EMS from the FDNY to achieve better...

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

Remember the TV show Laugh In, actor Arte Johnson played a German soldier who would peel apart a bush and say; "Interesting...very Interesting."...Applies here. But, perhaps this new commissioner will use her strength to shore up and improve EMS relations, fingers crossed, they sure could use...

My Favorite FDNY Rig of All Time.

Of course my fave is the 68 ALF tiller, but the runner up is a tie. You got to love all the types of Mack produced from the L series, C series, and CF, all genuinely classic beauties...but I get stuck on the fugly Pagoda Ward LaFrance Firebrand for some reason.

Commissioner Tucker NYP editorial on FDNY EMS problems

Good for him, and I appreciate the straightforward transparency. He clearly makes sense on what the opposition is, and like they say; a fish rots from the head down. EMS members are the gold standard and deserve much better leadership.

    Old EMS buses

Rode one as a Corpsman (One of the first with green uniform, we were the "Ambulance attendant" and "MVO" all rolled into one.) We had a bread box truck a few times when our regular rigs went out of service. Uncomfortable to say the least, especially midnight-8am tour roving around East New York...

FIREICE EXTINGUISHING AGENT REMOVED FROM SERVICE 12-13-25.

Fireice was a gel that stuck to burning material eliminating oxygen, I think it was supposed to be used for manhole fires. Just another better mouse trap gimmick came out about 10 years, or so, ago.

Pre-connect hose on FDNY engine companies

Yes, indeed, I love watching those videos of firefighters running half way down the block and back up dumping a shoulder load of 300' for a 100 ft stretch.

I agree 100%, can be very frustration and I find myself limiting my time and moving on. A bit overkill.
