LAFD To Purchase First Electric Fire Engine In North America

I am heading out to the FDIC conference in Indianapolis in April.  This new battery operated fire truck will be displayed at the exhibit hall.  I will file on-scene reports and pictures once I get a chance to look at this new apparatus.

    GLORY DAYS

Johnny Gage, Thank you so much for the great stories of your time with the DCFD.  I grew up 50 miles south of DC in Fredericksburg, VA.  My close encounter with DCFD came in the spring of 1982.  I was picking a girlfriend up from a relatives apartment that was on Columbia Rd. in Adams Morgan. ...

FDNY and NYC Firehouses and Fire Companies

Thanks for posting about 85/59 Joe.  I have always found this to be an interesting part of FDNY history, the quick construction of metal (Butler) buildings as Firehouses.  Isn't this just a few blocks from 82/31?  So different than what many of us are use to, having companies so close together. ...

    USS Fitzgerald

I am sure most, if not all of you, on this site have been keeping up with the collision of the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship off the coast of Japan.  Seven Sailors are confirmed dead in this tragic event.  Sadly, one of the sailors killed, Gunners Mate Dakota Rigsby, was a firefighter in...

    Harrisburg LODD - LT Devoe

Mack, thank you for posting this detailed account.  Another maybe: maybe if Harrisburg policy makers adequately funded the Fire Department so there are fully staffed fire companies, and enough staffed companies on the initial alarm; the Lt. would not have needed to leave his Brother Firefighters...

Is Ladder 8 in their own quarters or are they relocated to another house for renovation of their firehouse?

    Structure Fire, Albemarle County, Virginia.

A little job we had yesterday 12/16/15, in Albemarle County, VA.  I was off, Battalion 12 had the incident.  The first due Engine, Engine 1 from the City of Charlottesville on automatic aid, made a nice quick knockdown, backed up by Engine 82.  Amazing how well it goes when you stretch a line...

    Dispatchers 3rd Alarm

I know this may have been explained before on this forum, but I cannot find the thread.  I was reading in the most current WNYF an article about a collapse at a fire on Jennings Street in 1974.  In this article, it is referenced that when additional assistance was requested, a dispatchers 3rd...
