Is Ladder 8 in their own quarters or are they relocated to another house for renovation of their firehouse?

Midtown ladder companies are very high run; relocate ladder 8 to vicinity of eng 65....that way they can run equally east and west....just my opinion....

The neighborhood lost three engines in the 70's (13, 27, 31) and three in the 40's (20, 29, 30).  Maybe it's time to put one back (27)?

The reason why so many Engines were disbanded in that time was because before 1957 or 59 there were 4 Engines assigned on the Box in lower man. below 59th St. and that was changed to 3 Engines on the Box, and the Engines were on top of one another in Lower Manhattan during that period. The Ladder 8 thing I would think that if the Dept really looked at that a better move would be to put them in Eng 91 because of the High stats of 26 & 43.  Just one persons opinion.

wfd also when ENG*11  was disbanded they became the earlier short lived ENG*91-2 (not to be confused w/the War Years 91-2)...a fellow i know who lives in FLA & is in his '90s was in both Cos.....also although i don't think it will happen but as far as a LAD in ENG*65 when R*1 was there they piggy backed the Rigs.

Engine 4 re-opened in 1984.

Squad 5 was not disbanded but relocated to the Bronx at then-Engine 41's quarters. Squad 8 was disbanded in 1966 at Lafayette St.

Engine 17 was disbanded in 1991.

Relocated to Ladder 20 on Lafayette Street.
When did they move?  Has it been only a month or was it earlier?
Not sure when they actually moved but the announcement was only put on the DO last week......see paragraph 2.6 http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/insider/resources/do/2016/005_2016.pdf

Rescue 3 moved from Manhattan to the Bronx in the early 1990s, and THAT wasn't on the Dep't Orders for a couple years.

Not a truck company on the job that wants another ladder company to move into their area.  Last thing midtown needs is another 100 ft aerial on the streets.  Neighborhoods change, and we adjust.  Keep ladder 8 right where they are....

True about most not wanting another LAD  moving in their neighborhood .....a real help to busy Units would be a Building Insp task force & maybe some hydrant insp teams to relieve some of the administrative burden
