The southern reaches of Brooklyn are in the 43rd Battalion.  The well known Coney Island (which is no longer an island but a peninsula, since the Coney Island Creek was filled in about 100 years ago) contains the communities of Coney Island, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach and Seagate.  The...

    FIREHOUSE LETTERING FACTS.

Ladder 139 was planned with Engine 289.  When Ladder 138 was placed there instead, 139 was never reassigned. 288's and 292's were originally intended to have ladder companies. Ladders 133, 145, and 160 were all planned for Brooklyn houses.

The Rockaway Peninsula creates challenges for the 47th Battalion (originally 37th Battalion) in virtually every respect. Located to the south of Jamaica Bay, it is physically remote from the remainder of Queens and Brooklyn. It is accessible by only three routes by land on the eastern end...

    50th ANNIVERSARY OF 332/175.

There was a comment, some time ago on this site, that suggested that E225/L107 were given the option remain in place in the original firehouses, or move to the new Lincoln Ave firehouse as new companies (E332/L175), or move to Lincoln Ave with their original identities.  The latter was chosen. ...
