I would venture a guess that it was a selling feature that having one in the middle instead of 2 on the corners, could allow for an angled bumper and more maneuverability on tight/crowded NYC streets
I meant the actual vehicle, not the equipment or uses. I did not know that the Vent Support used a separate vehicle I thought it was just extra equipment on their actual rig. My question was is the second piece for Vent Support the same style of vehicle as the CPC or SSL rigs
While not NY I will add what my dept does. As a gentleman's agreement with the city we relieve one hour early. On paper our tours are 8amX6pm and 6pmX8am but we work 7X5 and 5X7. OT is not paid until 1/4 hour after the shift end time on paper. So we are saving the city lots of OT with the shift...
In the past didn't the primary response and back-up transport company have to have a back up Chauffer on the roster to drive the Collapse Rig (or any company that has a second piece) is that not a requirement anymore or is it the closest available unit that has a qualified Chauffer that will...
I think Ladder 14 is the back-up for Ladder 25 to transport Collapse Rescue 1. Or it was at one point.
Can anyone tell me the back up transport unit for Collapse Rescue 2?
Does the responding as an engine in 1st 2nd 3rd due areas apply to technical rescue responses also? Or do they respond as a squad with their second piece and another engine is assigned?
Same province as me, very sad situation. FD consists of 5(I think) members staffing one engine 24/7 the rest is call back OT and mutual aid. Newer lightweight construction home. One of the deadliest fires in Alberta history. Very sad day.
Also how do mutuals work with covering or OT officers? Do they just work according to the chart?
What happens when there are more surplus then there is spots to put them? or does that never happen?
