    New Seagraves

Brand new chief buggy, brand new engine, and a VERY old spare for 108.

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

Makes you wonder could the FDNY cut down on those SOC second pieces (SSLs) with truck companies? Would think the cost of the TDA if it could take over for two pieces makes it a cheaper option in the end...

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

That few feet is a huge amount of difference for a lot of locations in the 5 boroughs. Honestly the way it is getting we might end up seeing the Tiller make a comeback!

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

Definitely a smart move to get a second one on the island. And 77 puts one on the North Shore. Turning radius? Great to see all these companies wasting no time to get to work on customizing their trucks.

    Apparatus accidents and fires

The 2001/2 Seagrave with the boom salvaged from their 1999 Seagrave that was damaged on 9/11? Interesting. Thanks.

    Apparatus accidents and fires

What happened to 273? Why do I not recall what happened to their front line rig. Judging from the videos I have seen of them responding in a 2008 spare... looks like a long term set up for them. Their regular truck is due for replacement anyway. Isn't 163 getting a new rig? Also are they in a...

    Squad Response Area

Idea is to prevent SQ01 from constantly traveling the Verrazano... those EzPass bills were getting quite expensive lol All kidding aside it is to keep the SOC units more readily available to go on the -75 or greater. Not to mention the size of response zones for SI when you are going beyond...

    FDNY EMS Station and Units

Is that combined between FDNY and the hospital systems?

    FDNY EMS Station and Units

Totally bringing an old thread back... Even though dated this shows for SI 22/23 that there are around 11 FDNY ambulances for the entire borough? Is there a way to figure out how many Voluntary are there from each of the hospital systems to augment that?

6/9/21 Staten Island All Hands (Pepper Spray Incident) Box 0406

This explains why I saw E241 on SI with the lights on going somewhere... they were relocated to 160 and probably caught a minor run.

    Spare fleet

Feel like the spare fleet is usually pretty rough and there are always issues with maintaining a healthy spare pools for any fleet (not just FDNY). Squads, Tillers, etc only have like one or two spares. The 75' towers should finally be seeing some relief as the 2010s are being replaced and...

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

That part I never knew! I never understood why the department would try it out at a different house if 85 fits the truck, is more centrally located to provide that 95’ coverage to the entire island and the only reason they were changed to a 75’ (from what I was told) is that front line rig was a...

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

If memory on the 2000s at Ladder 85 is correct... If I recall correctly the issues with 85 were that their 2002 Seagrave 95' was a lemon. They were constantly in a spare as that truck kept having frame issues (believe it was cracked frame). Rig was finally taken out of front line and put to CTS...

    4/23/21. NEW SEAGRAVE TOWER LADDERS

33 had the 95 a few times. I think they had a Mack 95 foot tower and the more recent Seagrave 95 foot tower. I wonder if there is any need for more on Staten Island. They only have one on the island; 85.

    4/24/21 Staten Island All-Hands/Under Control Box 8480

162/82/23 is bascially just off Hylan on Nelson. They actually drive north on hylan only to have to drive back south on Buffalo to access this call. Now if marine 8 was in service (which it won't be until 5/3) this would have been the quickest responding unit. Atlantis Marina is right on the...

    4/10/21 Manhattan 10-76 3rd Alarm Box 0827

Makes me more sure of it... just need to confirm the registration. The gold FD and NY are a clue, the tape covering a scratched off 38 under the grill and the registration confirms it. Good to see a lot of their custom features still on the rig while it finishes off its days in the spare fleet.

Is this why 243 is at 168 and 153 is at 86 right now?

Is that Ladder 38s old 2001 Rearmount that ladder 16 has in the video? The gold "FIRE" stands out to me
