    1/2/24 Manhattan 10-75 Box 1945

I am curious, what made them transmit the 10-75? I understand loading the box (4/2/R/S).

2023 Battalion Chief Responses To Fire & Emergencies

Really good information. Looking at a map, is B32 everything west of Cadman Plaza West/Court Street to President Street to Smith Street?

I didn’t find the reason. MVA, building collapse, brawl? NikFDNY - You do a great job posting, always adding in EMS 👍. But please remember to put in type of incident. Happy New Year! 💥 🎆🍾

Limited expressway response in New York Area

I can’t speak for FDNY. From what I‘m familiar with is if access is better for Department B, even though it’s in Town A, then B will respond along with Town A. Some areas may have 5 miles between exits. If unknown exact location, they will respond with A coming one way and B the other way. If...

    12/31/23 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 2899

I looked at a map. Each street is about 3/4 of a mile, plus the one-way streets may make a difference.

    12/31/23 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 2899

I am asking here because I think Skyler Fire will know the answer! Was Car 12 the citywide tour commander? I‘m not sure if he’s exempt from that because I though chief of safety is assigned on 4th alarm if available. 🤔

Limited expressway response in New York Area

In general, if the response is between two exits that are each located in a separate town/jurisdiction, one department goes north and the other south. The Bronx and Westchester County have a couple parkways and highways where FDNY goes north and Yonkers or New Rochelle go south. With the advent...

    12/20/23 Queens 5th Alarm Box 7254

Battalions and Deputies are in a union. Deputy Assistants, Assistants, Chief of Department are not union a union. When promoted past deputy they are considered staff chiefs. Generally, a DAC or AC is assigned as the citywide tour commander (this includes borough commanders, chiefs of fire...

    12/18/23 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 4903

Question: I recall that the borough commanders (cars 6 - 10) were the citywide tour commanders quite often. I don’t see them anymore. Has something changed? Or maybe they’re the CWTC on quiet nights. 🤔

    12/14/23 Manhattan 10-77 Box 0297

Question: I looked at the aerial photos of these buildings. 200 feet long. It appears there are 4 sections per building. When they say, “One staircase in the building”, are they referring to just one of the 4 sections?

12/5/23 MANHATTAN **AUTO EXTRICATION** BOX 0785

I watched the video but didn’t listen. Maybe he answers the question. Does FDNY respond 2nd engine, 2nd ladder & a squad on confirmed pins only on highways?

    11/26/23 Staten Island 10-75 Box 0678

Here is a question not particular to SI, but FDNY across all the boroughs. Of course many factors go into this (other activity, weather conditions, distance). When a 10-75 is transmitted, dispatch moves up some companies to fill the hole created by the 4 closest engines & 3 closest ladders now...

    11/19/23 Brooklyn Brush Box 3073

Wow, great stuff! Very interesting… From looking at the video and the map, it appears GBVFD, helps to cover that whole Marine Park area, including the area to the east of where the bay/inlet/creek is. It doesn’t appear there is any direct access. Do they go Avenue U to Flatbush Ave to access...

    11/26/23 Staten Island 10-75 Box 0678

I’m not sure, but I would think the All-Hands might initiate more coverage being that, in theory, they may be tied up longer. A 10-75 may be wrapped up quickly and perhaps only one or two units are relocated.

    11/11/23 Scanner Feeds

You make a good point about it falling behind. Every transmission is recorded and played, but it can be 10 to 20 minutes behind. The first time I used it I was thinking what is going on? I heard a chief declare a 10-75 on the 2nd floor, flames out the windows. Then 15 minutes later I heard, “We...
