Engine 41 was disbanded 1989, "Enhanced Engine 41" was re-organized in 1990, under completely different circumstances and community pressure prior to the other companies that were less busy and eventually became Squad Co's in 1998.

    6/20/24 Bronx 4th Alarm Box 2297

10-foot soft suction – This 3 ½” soft suction has 4 ½” couplings, so it can be connected directly to a hydrant. It can be bent but will straighten when charged with water and is very difficult to kink. At 10 feet long, it is the shortest hydrant connection and requires accurate positioning close...

Love ya Cap, but you're not making sense, RE: not be delayed but wait for a PD tow truck. Every ECC must know the 3 ways to hook up to an obstructed highway. Smashing windows is not one...suppose glass gets in his eye, then what?...The FDNY is the worlds best trained fire dept through practice...

My GOD, what was that ECC thinking, totally unprofessional and not focused on the mission. It is truly a WTF moment and a total embarassment t the FDNY. Something isn't proper simply because it's permissible, nor is it ethical just because it's legal. The FDNY is not in the business to teach...

Tower Ladders vs Rear Mount straight ladders

Not really, the Bronx is made up with the same types of structures whether your in E 45's area, to E 89's area to Hunts Point. H Buildings, TAXPAYER- and row frames. Same as in Brooklyn and Queens. The neighborhood make-up are all the same generally speaking.

Tower Ladders vs Rear Mount straight ladders

The original design by Chief O'Hagan was to have a TL and RM assigned to every box. But of course this is/was not always possible...During the selection process, L 31 was supposed to become a RM, but the Captain (who was buddies with O'Hagan) convinced him to send L 31 a TL, and instead of L 19...
