Oh I know. My uncle worked for Jamaica water, moved to the city when they were merged.or bought out or whatever, retired and still does pt work for city water. It doesn't stop in NY. Years ago we sent our ladder mutual aid to the next city south of us for a fire that ended up burning down...

    10/31/25 Queens 10-75 Box 6993

Reason i ask is 5 inch soft supply maxes out at about between 1000 and 1250 gpms. Depends on what pressure is coming from the hydrant. Its what we use for our supply. The 6 inch hard suction, comes in at about 1500 gpms. The advantage on the hard suction is that you could pull water out of a...

Out of curiosity, what size is the 35' yellow hose? Looks like 5 inch to me. But I could be wrong.

I wouldn't preconnect it. Sounds good in theory but over time the gate in the intakes will leak and cause problems. Especially with city water. Our 5 inch gated intakes on the sides of our rigs, I could take the cap off drain it, grease it, replace the cap and by noon the dry side would be full...

Im assuming when you say hydrant connection, you mean hard suction? A lot of crews use the soft supply( the yellow 35 foot section) as personal preference. You dont have to be accurate on spotting and if done right is a lot faster then the hard suction. In this case, I would have run the 5 inch...

    New FDNY Tillers

I would assume that if they knew it would have been removed. I vaguely remember something similar with the real q sirens back in the 90s when they were removed from the trucks.

    New FDNY Tillers

Kind of surprised the shops are ok with the street sign over the grill. I can't swear to it but the reason the company numbers are on all the rigs now is for airflow. Too many companies added personalized numbers that apparently was restricting airflow and causing problems. So now there factory...

New Squad and Mas Service Unit Orders

The only real difference between a 2000 gpm pump and a 1000 is the number of intakes/discharges and the size of the intakes, along with the size/number of impellers. Everything else is still the same. Same size pump panel, pump compartment etc. If I had to guess it would have more to do with...

AFAIK it's real. It was posted by NYCFirewire on both Twitter and Facebook within the last 24 hours. The caption with it reads time to fix the potholes.

FDNY R-1 Captain set to retire

I think and I could be wrong it was a R2 Capt or Lt that had some help from the Mayors office. Going on memory from a book I read. I remember that the officers spots in the rescues aren't taken lightly but dont remember the details off hand.

8/26/25 Brooklyn Car Fire w/ Foam Ops Box 790

Ive seen videos before of chafeurs doing similar things on fores. Not sure how many 5 gallon pails or conatiners of foam FDNY engs carry but what they may have done was take the remaing foam from a used bucket or 2 and dump it into a fresh bucket to use it up. The foam pails we carried as spares...
