New Squad and Mas Service Unit Orders

Are you saying they're all trained and have the second piece ready and aren't put in service as an HMTU yet due to budget? I presume due to the 12% (or whatever it is) SOC pay?
Yup. No money. They are all trained 2nd piece is in quarters awaiting the money to pay them

Does anybody know why they stick to 1000gpm pumps for the squads? Most of the rest of FDNY engines are now 2000gpm. Is there a space difference in a 1000gpm vs. 2000gpm pump that would allow the squad to have more compartment space?
The only real difference between a 2000 gpm pump and a 1000 is the number of intakes/discharges and the size of the intakes, along with the size/number of impellers. Everything else is still the same. Same size pump panel, pump compartment etc.
If I had to guess it would have more to do with intended use. Squads are primarily Special op units with some first due 2nd and 3rd due. Not really intended for long stretches, drafting, multiple lines etc, where the average engine trains on those things regularly.
I'll see if I can find the picture but when I was at Sutphen for a precon they had a bunch of pumps and housings sitting at the factory waiting to be installed and there all almost identical.
