SI had 14 engines, 9 trucks and 3 BCs in 1937 when it's population was about 158000

In 2012, the population has tripled to almost 500000 - only 4 engine companies and 3 ladders have been added

SI has less fire protection than cities or counties with populations of half a million people

It takes a long time to move Bklyn  units to many parts of SI.

SI needs more fire companies

This is only the 2nd week of April and look what is going on already. By the end of the summer the way its going atleast half of SI will be burned down. At that point the FDNY wont have to worry about making new companys for SI.

Nobody is safe anymore, the war years are gone.........There were companys that were untouchable in the good old days. Now, it does not matter what company it is or where the company is located. If there are numerous jobs in the same boro going at the same time expect the unexcepted.

When I was growing up I remember E41 had 2 Staten Island "Mutual Aid" boxes on their big board housewatch desk wall chart. I remember the big S.I. brush fires of 1967 and seeing E41, E42, E43, E81 & E94 crossing the Third Ave. bridge on their way to Staten Island.

With the fire being located where its at and so many companies being relocated, why hasn't SI assigned Oceanic's brush unit as well? Not like one rig would make any difference, but I'm just curious.
