L48 recieved a call last week asking for company patches to be put on the new rig.  They were told they should be getting a new rig in the next 60 days.

I doubt it.  Unless they really step up production....L48 isn't in the initial order of 20 and all of them haven't even been delivered.  L49 just got there's, L42 has had there's for a couple of months and the shops asked them for patches over a year ago.  I'm sure the same is true for L38 and all the rest.  Hate to be a naysayer, but I think 6 months is more realistic.

L-154 also submitted patch over a year before.

I don't think there's anyway 48 Truck is getting a new rig within 60 Days , unless they are #1 on the second order list , maybe.

You're correct.  Even at #1 on the second round....not a chance.  Once a company is approaching the date to receive a new rig, they are sent to The Rock for four consecutive Saturday's to train on the new rig.  Right there, that's a month.  So far, companies have received their new rig several weeks after that training is complete.  So....basically, it's a long way off.  I'd put one of my measly paychecks on it ;)

That's true , I remember the guys of 32 Truck saying that , The Rock should have gotten one , For CTS or Regular Company Training , Also back in February I went to 54/4/9 & The officer of 4 Truck said that when you get off the stick it shakes and wobbles , I don't know if that was that 1 Rig or all of them , 48 Truck is the oldest rig in Battalion 3 , Besides Foam 96 , But correct , they are definitely not getting one within 60 Days. I can have those stickers made , a friend of mine is a graphic artist , I give him a Patch and he can make it into a sticker , he can make the numbers for the rig , Company Names , etc ..

CTS really doesn't need a rig.  They have plenty of rearmounts and these new ones aren't really all that different to operate.  There are better things to spend a million dollars on.  Each company is essentially training on the rig that is delivered before theres.  Right now, L29 is sitting at The Rock, before that it was L49 or L38, one of them.

There are some real questions about these new rigs, time will tell.  I ran in with L42 last week and they're back to a spare.....hopefully just some growing pains.

We aren't too happy with ours...been oos for a bunch of things the a/c already caught fire and a bunch of other things.  The top fly section is very narrow the rig.  The aerial sways a lot left to right.  The whole rig moves even with the rear wheels on the ground which they tell you to do at the rock when the aerial is  up there is no way this is lasting for very long

Yikes...that doesn't sound too good....HOWEVER, that A/C unit is exactly the same, identical that is, to what is on the current seagrave ladders and engines.  You might have just gotten a sh!tty one...

Is there there a tendency for the rear end of these rigs to start swaying and risk loss of driver control when negotiating traffic? Even at low speeds?

I have picked up either on here or elsewhere that there when a side to side motion is applied to the rig, such as when negotiating traffic, the rear end inertia takes over and the driver has to battle it.

Im Sure 4truck or others who ride these rigs will no this to be true or not.

Maybe we did get a shitty a/c unit but thats pennies compared to the noises the suspension now makes over bumps now.  My main problem i don't like is the way the aerial sways from side to side when dimounting onto the parapet.  Theres no way these are going to last at all

The Ferrara rear mounts we had in Pittsburgh did the same thing. They did not last long at all and as far as i know we dont even use them as spares.

The rear end stability problem could be related to the aerial turntable mounted further back than the Seagraves. That puts more weight behind the rear wheels.
