That is a nice looking truck. any guess when there going to start delivery? my guess is mid to late January provided there not like the latest Seagrave purchase.

Interesting interior design. Is that the engine in between the crew in the rear of the truck similar to the way Seagrave used to be? Does it seat 2 firefighters on each side with the engine compartment in the middle?

From what I heard, that's a storage compartment in-between the back seats. It's the same setup as if the engine compartment was in the middle

Dont want to go off topic, but did anyone see the almost completed R5?  Nice looking rig, when is that supposed to be recieved?

Wonder how long before someone whacks that remote control spot light off the roof bedding the aerial.

Looks great.

The Lettering on the top of the Body, Not so much.
Don't like how the squeezed Res5cue on the Officer's side. And R5's logo looks lost up there by itself. JMO though.

According to the Ferrara website, the SIXTH, Rear Mount is in production.  They are really moving along now

The first rearmount is nearing completion, I wonder who will get this one?

The Bureau of Training should be getting the first one for testing then training the rest of the companies

The tentative order for placing in service the Ferrara rearmounts is:  137, 156, 81,123, 24, 169, 32, 154, 42, 4, 165, 49, 173, 38, 29, 8, 113, 132, 11, 3.

Some of these assignments are going to really "test" the reliability and durability of the new Ferrara rigs.  L4, 24, 32, 113, 123, 132 & 165  are amongst the busiest runners; 81, 137, 169 & 173 are going to get more than their share of exposure to salt water spray; and L49 is going to do some severe hill climbing.

This could be the first time a firehouse housing an Engine and Truck has a completely none Seagrave lineup in some time, E54/L4 will be a complete Ferrara House.

JT

Not the first time, but the first in a long time.  Certainly you remember the days of Mack engines and American LaFrance trucks in the same house.

How about those few months in 1985 when E35/L14 was a double ALF Century house?  L14 got their 1984 ALF/LTI tower in the summer of 1985, and E35 got a reassigned 1979 Mack at the end of 1985 to replace their 1980 ALF.

Gman, I think in addition to what you're saying here is the aerials have to be field tested also.I believe they are being made by a different co. L30 & L132  were selected in the early 80's for assignment of the two mack rearmounts that had LTI ladders. the reason why they were selected was because of the amt of times they raised the stick the previous year and they were figured to do it again. The aerial was great but the only problem with the Truck was that it was top heavy and the prohibitive cost at the time was probably more important.  I received an e-mail from a friend saying that L132's rig was almost done.

Yes, some of the truck companies on the list have been chosen in the past to test out new types of apparatus. Remember when L24, 32, 42, 137, 154, 156 & 169 got rigs with a new type of automatic transmission? Also when L4, 38, 49 & 165 got heavy duty aerials with raised roofs over the jumpseats?

JOR:  You're right about the aerials being made by another company . . . Smeal is building them for Ferrara to install on their chassis.
