Probably one of the lousiest and most unique places to have a major fire in morning rush hour.
- Main entrance to Christ the King HS to the left of the fire building
- "M" train Metropolitan Av Station to the right and the freight line running alongside it and beyond... and the shopping center(Metro Mall is it still called?)
- Metropolitan the only man thoroughfare through here thanks to the cemeteries on both sides ... hence why dispatch had to direct 3rd alarm companies to staging going through Glendale and up Cooper to 78th Street, otherwise it's Eliot to 69th Street

The church that you are speaking about was the Trinity Lutheran Church on the top of the hill in the cemetery. It was on the same side as the fire this morning. This was a easy one to remember. My sister was getting married there 3 weeks after the fire and l was riding with 319. We were 1st due and heavy smoke banked down to the street when we pulled up. Nobody knew where the fire was at first.

Depending on the time of day it's a toss up between either 319 or 291.

319 is 1st due up to the Metro M train station which is next to the fire building. 291 is 1st due to the next building Metro Mall at 6626 Metro Ave. 319 has to go west on Metro and at that time of the morning there is heavy traffic. 291 has to go east on Metro Ave which has light traffic. And the opposite goes at night time.

I couldn’t even begin to count the number of times I walked past this mornings fire building on my way to the M train.

I remember reading the article as well as seeing it on a DVD I have. I believe that church was somewhat recently renovated then the fire happened a short time after.
