Came across in a book that Ladder 49 had a 110' RM but I cannot find a mention of it in the little red books. Delivered between editions? Thanx.
They were hard to maneuver especially tight streets, took a lot longer to set up compared to regular rear mounts, the 110' had different outriggers due to the bigger heavier ladder, the diamond plate in the crew compartment was always very hot, each rig had its own malfunctions like air line leaks or hydraulic leaks, etc. It should tell you that only 4 were delivered.Grumpy,
The four 110ft rearmounts were:
L-4 1989; L-165 1989; L-49 1990 and L-38 1990. They stayed in service at their assigned companies and the 110ft aerials were not replaced when time came for replacement.
On a side note, I was told that the fourth 110ft rig was supposed to go to L-176 but there was a problem with the rig and their quarters, so it was assigned to 38 instead.
Don't know how the troops liked them (or not). Maybe there is someone on site who had some experience with them.
