3 CW multi alarms this week. Why do I think its gonna be worse for the last 2 weeks of da year.

I'm still trying to figure out how, after the 3rd alarm was transmitted, with all the engines already on the scene there were only three lines stretched and operating?? I remember when the row frames bulletin first came out in the late 70's the 4th line usually went to the rear. It just seems strange that lately the IC's have all been going to exterior operations earlier on than in the past. The amount of combustible contents hasn't radically changed or increased in the last 30 years, but it seems that the tactics have, even with members better protected with hoods and bunker gear that we didn't have in the 70's.
Back then, 3 five-man engines could stretch 3 lines. Today it takes six companies to do the same. Wouldn't it be more cost effective for the city to have 3 5 man companies operate than have six do the same - and look at all the relocations that would cause as well. Dropping down to 4 men doesn't really seem to be a cost effective move in the long run.

Maybe other Engines we're feeding the 3 lines. Or maybe they we're stretching theres to. Not really sure, took me till last week to figure out what LS/O means and I've been on this site since early this year.
