Technically E-bikes are illegal in the city, which would make such a campaign hard to justify. Additionally, many of the users who rely on these bikes for work or transportation don't have the option to buy the more expensive models.

From what I've read the biggest problem is with the aftermarket batteries people are buying and swapping out because they use these bikes and scooters so much. There has been well over one hundred fires in the last year or so all around the city involving these things.
