Thx for sharing. Doesn’t answer the question of why it took so long. Maybe a member OTJ can answer. Generally curious.
 
I don't know the answer for certain but this may help: at the recent fatal fire in Queens, in the press conference that followed, COD Esposito said something to the effect of "FDNY will remain on scene during demolition until such time as we can fully complete all searches of this building, which is our practice". If this building was heavily damaged by fire and partially collapsed, it may be that FD kept control of the scene while demolition was ongoing and only technically concluded their operations once the remainder of the building was opened up and searched. In the FD world two months is a long time, but in the construction world, it isn't.
